Happy New Year!!!!

I know it's early for us here in Alabama but I'm sure that I won't be on here later.  I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and hope that 2011 brings 10x more joy than 2010 did.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year and let's look at the new year with a positive attitude.

Overwhelmed

I had planned on sleeping in this morning and had no success.  That's not a bad thing, had a very informative morning.  I got up and started reading two soap making forums that I am a member of trying to get some inspiration and help.  Needless to say that I did get that but it is so overwhelming all the information that is out there that I think that I might now have information overload, LOL.  Any way, I did get some inspiration so I am motivated.  I do hope that next year will be a much better year.  I plan on making some changes that hopefully will broaden my horizons.  I look forward to the new year with a positive attitude and new approach.

Plans for my New Year's Eve

Although I am off from work tomorrow, I am on call so I will be spending my New Year's Eve at home.  My plan is to sleep in (something I never do) and then get up and make some new soaps.  I purchased several new fragrances and have read a few tutorials so I am excited about trying some of the new things that I learned.  Be on the look out for pics of what is in the works.  I also have a facebook page so come join me over there as well and get a first look at new items that I have made.

The New Year is Fast Approaching

Well I must say that 2010 could've been a whole lot better.  I have gotten discouraged the last few months and had seriously considered closing up shop.  My youngest son, Ryon who is a go-getter, not afraid of anything, willing to try something once type of guy, told me that I was not a quitter and that I couldn't give up because things will get better.  I have always said that Ryon was my hero because of his attitude and assertiveness.  I'm not a quitter and took what he said to heart.  I thought, "How can I do better next year?"  I decided that I would branch out in the craft fairs and festivals and go beyond Alabama.  I plan on being a vendor at several shows in Georgia and Tennessee.  I plan on networking; although I thought that I was doing that, but going to put myself out there more than I have.  I am open to ideas and suggestions and would love to hear from others on what they did to expand and gain more publicity.   Like the slogan Nike "Just do it" I am going to do it!  I look forward to a better year for my business as well as in my personal life.  Got to have a positive attitude.

New Cards

I made a few cards a few weeks ago.  I really need to get back in the swing of things.  Like I said in my previous post, I have so many ideas, that I need to make them a reality.  Anyway, here are some pics of my recent cards.

Christmas

Well Christmas is right around the corner or better yet, right next door :).  I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas this year.  I haven't really been in the Christmas spirit this year but I am holding on that 2011 will be a bigger and better year for me personally and for my businesses.  Have many plans and ideas for the upcoming year and want to bring them to fruition.  Let's see what the new year brings!

Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  A time to spend with family and to be thankful for all the blessings in your life.  We are spending the day with my aunt and cousins and I plan on making a few special dishes.  Every year I try to come up with something that is different and new to the family.  This year I am planning on making gooey pumpkin butter cake, Not your ordinary green bean casserole, Apple Crisp, Sweet Potato Balls and Dirt Cake.  That should keep me busy most of tomorrow.  I want to wish each and everyone of you a truly wonderful Thanksgiving Day and God bless you.

Well the storms have passed and a tornado hit not too far from my house. Thankfully, our home was not touched but there are others in the community who were not so fortunate. There were some spots were the tornado destroyed trees just a few yards away and did not touch the house. The power company and the rescue squad were very helpful and were out right after it hit and began working on clearing roads and helping families. Everyone joined together to help one another. There have been so many natural disasters, that it is scary. Between the earthquakes, volcanoes and tornadoes lately, you wonder what will happen next.

Catching Up

I know it's been a while since I have posted on here and hopefully things are beginning to settle down where I can start posting here more often. My mother had a stroke in December but she is doing wonderfully! You would never know that she had one to look at her now. Some of the things that have been going on in my life since I last posted are that I published a website for my bath and body products (http://www.earthernmagicessence.com/), as well as a website for my photography (http://www.eyecuphotography.weebly.com/) (oh yes, I am into that as well). My son graduated from high school and is now attending college. He is still looking for a job and I pray that will happen soon. I will be at the same job for 10 years in September. Re-connecting with old classmates and friends as well as family members has been a wonderful blessing. I have been to three class reunions and will be heading to a family reunion this summer. I've made some wonderful new friends and hope to see more of my dreams come true.

Things that I will be working on is some new items to list on my website. Some new items I have made recently are bath melts and popsicle soaps. I have an idea for a lavender soap that I hope to make this weekend. I am off next week, so I hope to add quite a few items to my inventory. Graduation is coming up so I will also be having photo shoots for seniors. I also have a couple of weddings booked for June so things are looking up.

These bath melts are made with Cocoa Butter, Macadamia Butter, Olive Butter, Olive Shea Butter, Mango butter, Buttermilk Powder and Green Tea.

This is one of the popsicle soaps that I have made. This one is chocolate Mint and smells Heavenly! This one is great for the chocolate lovers out there. I also want to thank Noleen Burke who designed the logo for my products. She was able to capture what I wanted and take it from my brain to paper. Thank you very much Noleen!
