Mountain Market Day

This was the first market day and it was such a big success that they are going to do it again in the Fall. It was so hot out there, I thought that I was going to melt and by the end of the day, I was worn out. Despite how hot it was, there were plenty of shoppers and I did great in sales. I met a couple of other soapmakers including Amanda from the Soaps and Lotion Forum. I had a great time and can't wait to do it again. Oh, and how can I forget, I had one shop owner from Georgia ask about carrying some of my products in her shop in Georgia. So, all in all I say that I had a very good day. The pics are of my new set-up, so let me know your opinion. BTW, ignore what's under the table, lol.

Can you tell that I have food on the brain?

At least these are not fattening, lol. For some reason, I love the idea of making soap look like food; desserts to be exact. I am getting ready to be a vendor at a market here locally. They are hoping that it will be a success so that they can have it several times a year. There are going to be over 40 vendors there as well as music and food. These were the latest in my foodie line. Look fattening but zero calories and fun. I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of product, large variety and unique items. ( at least around here) can't wait and let's pray that I do well in sales.

cupcakes, cupcakes everywhere!

I am so loving making cupcake bath Fizzies and soap. When I first started making them, I couldn't get the frosting right. Well, after much practice and tweaking my recipe, I think I have it down pat. The above cupcake Fizzies are Canberry Orange, Margarita lime and hot pink pomergranate. I love making cupcakes so much that I have been trying my hand at real cupcakes. the second two pictures are of some of the real cupcakes that I made recently.  The second pic is of my berry lemonade cupcakes and the third pic is of the beer cupcakes that i made.  The beer cupcakes were left in for just a couple of minutes too long, so they were not as moist as I would'e liked them to be; but trust me, they went just as fast as the berry lemonade here at home.  I had given my son some to take to school and he said that he was not going to take them, they were too good to share.  He sure knows how to stroke his mom's ego, lol.  The first set of cupcakes that I made a week before were sweet potato, strawberry and chocolate cupcakes.  I may have to slow down as we might not be able to walk through the door soon.  :)

Mother's Day Gift Baskets from Drawing.

Here are pics of the gift baskets that two of my fans won on my facebook page.

Good Enough to Eat?

I found these cool silicone molds and of course had to buy them.  I don't know what it is but I love the idea of making soap look like food.  Don't get me wrong, I love my bar soaps but these are fun to make and pretty to look at.  When I am making these, I am always asked "Is it soap or can we eat them" by my youngest son  When I was making these last night, my nephews were visiting and they wanted to eat them too, lol.  So hated to disappoint them but I will make up for it by making some real goodies for them to eat.

After the Storm - Rainsville Tornado Damage

Here are some of the pictures taken in Rainsville, Alabama after the tornado of April 27, 2011 hit.  Many lives were lost that day and my prayers go out to each and everyone of the families who lost a loved one, their home and more.

Storm of the Year.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2011, The South was hit with devestation.  Alabama suffered the worse in these storms.  Tornadoes hit through several counties and close to 200 died in this storm.  Tuscaloosa was one of the worse cities hit with the highest death toll.  The tornado was almost a mile wide and was on the ground for over five minutes.  In that short period of time, homes were lost, businesses gone, people were injured and the devestation is unbelievable.  Trees look like broken matchsticks.  Homes were leveled.  It truly looks like a war zone there.  Sadly, Tuscaloosa was not the only place hit.  Dekalb County suffered the second most deaths on that day.  Cullman once again suffered disaster.  Words cannot express what these towns and people have gone through.  Other counties went without power for a few days but that does not compare.  People have banned together to help those who were less fortunate and they are still looking for any help, supplies, support and prayers from others.  Let's remember those who have suffered some loss during these storms. Alabama was not the only state hit with these storms or had fatalities.  These are the times that America needs to show that we stand behind our people and are there when we need us to be.  God bless you all  My prayers go out to everyone.

Mother's Day Gift Basket Drawing!

Ok everyone, I am hosting another drawing and this time it is for a Mother's Day gift basket.  The rules are have to have your fiends come by and like my page and say who sent them.  The one who has the most referrals wins the gift basket  But wait, that is not all, if you feel you don't have enough friends to refer, you can come by and post a humors joke, inspiration story, comment etc.  Of that group, there will be a random drawing for another gift basket.  Also, from the winner's friends, I will do another random drawing so that they have a chance to win two items from my store.  That way, everyone has a chance to win.  The baskets will be valued at over $25 each.  So, come stop by my page and send your friends too.  I look forward to seeing the stories and comments that you post.  Good luck everyone.  This drawing is opened until April 30th and the winner will have 48 hours in which to respond and provide me with their mailing address.

Newest products from last weekend

I have been a busy little beaver lately.  I am trying to get enough products for some up-coming craft shows and Farmer's Market.  My latests products have been soap and some bath salts.  My next creating session will be for sugar scrubs, lotion, smelly jellys and some more novelty soaps.  Come back by  in about a week and see what else I have made.  I have made cupcake bath fizzies before but was never really happy with the "iciing".  I have finally mastered icing!  Yay!  I had a request to make a soap that had annointing oil in it and I made a batch that came out successful.  I was not sure how the soap would react with the oil but it did fne and it does smell wonderful.  My kitchen table is covered with my latest soaps and will soon move them to the racks.  Thanks for stopping by and looking.
